Bünder Cigarren Germany's biggest cigar museum, Museum Bünde, wanted to develop a small box containing three of its most famous cigars. The museum, located in the former Cigar factory of Bünde, used to be the biggest producer of cigars in Germany. It existed until 1962 and especially in the early 50's it was a gathering place for creative people. There were discussions (from art to music) and various lectures were held... We, as students of the Willem de Kooning academy, continued the 8th Street Club. Silk Screen Prints: We designed two series of 30, hand made and numbered, silk-screen prints for the final reception of the project weeks. By combining the academy’s icon with handwork, we wanted to generate extra value to the poster series. We asked ourselves if people would find the posters so desirable that they would take them home and hang them up on their own walls? It turned out that they were! The Director If it is up to me, everything should be ordered, structured and in its own place. By combining the space and freedom of my closet and the coloured straws, I have created a playful square that remains ordered, but does not look static at the same time. The straws can only provide a certain amount of freedom, but on the other hand, you can do with it what you want and they are still ordered. The closest and I are the directors. Products bring tensions into the square.
